Joseph Dutto – Architecte d’intérieur
TC : Joseph Dutto, architecte d’intérieur depuis plus de 25 ans, vous exercez avec succès, dans la région des Alpes maritimes comme à Monaco et Paris. Vous êtes connu pour avoir réalisé de prestigieuses rénovations à Paris, à Genève, en Italie, en Angleterre et aux Etats unis. Quelle est votre principale motivation quand vous acceptez un dossier ?
Dutto : « Si je dois choisir un mot pour caractériser mon travail ce sera « confiance ». En effet, j’apprécie lorsque l’on me donne carte blanche. Bien entendu, j’échange avec mes clients, on travaille ensemble les avants projets et lorsqu’un projet est arrêté, les couleurs et matériaux choisis dans les grandes lignes, je peux agir seul. Je n’ai jamais déçu personne. Il est plus facile de se sentir libre et de savoir qu’on me fait confiance … l’essentiel étant entendu, seuls quelques petits réglages au coup par coup sont à considérer, et c’est la garanti d’un beau travail très satisfaisant pour tous. »
TC : Avez-vous une « marque de fabrique », une méthode qui vous caractérise particulièrement ?
Dutto : « J’aime penser le lieu de l’intérieur vers l’extérieur Je m’en imprègne jusqu’à l’habiter par la pensée. Je m’installe et y vis naturellement jusqu’à donner corps au projet pour m’assurer que le rêve deviendra réalité. Je ne puis concevoir un lieu de vie ou de travail qui ne commence pas par me plaire à titre personnel. Pendant la phase de conception mentale, je m’invite en quelques sortes dans l’espace qui répondra le plus fidèlement aux attentes de mon client… Je suis déjà « chez lui » ! Le résultat s’exprime comme une œuvre musicale qui fait résonner les lieux en harmonie avec l’expression de ses désirs. »
TC : Diriez-vous que vous êtes un artiste ?
Dutto : « Avant toute chose, je suis d’abord un homme attentif et disponible, sensible à la beauté certes, ce qui caractérise le plus souvent la fibre artistique. Mais pour moi, chaque projet est une nouvelle aventure. J’aime par-dessus tout donner du caractère à une maison, un appartement … tout en respectant l’environnement extérieur et l’architecture d’origine. »
TC : Donc, comment vous résumeriez-vous ?
Dutto : « Mon expérience professionnelle, ma culture, ma connaissance du beau, ma curiosité et ma modernité d’esprit me conduisent à répondre avec beaucoup d’aisance à toutes les architectures et styles possibles. Je m’attache à proposer une vraie cohérence de circulation, en répondant aux attentes de mes clients, gagner un maximum de lumière et d’espace aux justes proportions de l’habitat, pour un confort et un esthétisme optimum. En résumé je suis l’architecte de vos désirs ! »

Joseph Dutto Interior decorator
TC : Joseph Dutto, you have been an interior decorator for more than 25 years, and a successful one at that, in the region of the Alps bordering the Mediteranean sea, as well as in Monaco, but also Paris, Geneva, Italy, in England and the States. What is your main motivation that makes you accept a commission ?
Dutto : « If I must choose one word to characterize my line of work, it would be « trust ». Indeed, I really do appreciate it when a client gives me a free hand. Of course I exchange with my clients, we work together and when we have reached an agreement on the overall project, have chosen the main colours an materials, I can then act alone ». I have never disappointed anyone. It is easier to feel free and to know that I have my client’s confidence the essentiel points having been agreed on, only a few details concerning adjustments or tuning are to be then discussed ; it is then the guarantee of a fine work, very satisfying for all.
TC Do you have your own « trademark », a method that characterizes you more particularly ?
J.Dutto : « I like to think the project starting from the inside and then progressing towards the outside. I get impregnated with the surroundings to the extent of living there in my mind and I stay here to embody the project to be sure that the dream will become a reality. I cannot conceive lodgings as a place to live or to work where I would not myself want to live or work. During the mental stage of conception, I invite myself in some sorts in the space that will meet as closely as possible my client’s expectations .. I already feel at home in his home ! The result can be expressed like a piece of music that would sound in harmony with my client’s desires.
TC : Would you say you are an artist ?
Dutto: before anything else, I am first of all a man who is available and attentive, sensitive to beauty of course, which more often characterizes the artistic fibre. But for me, each project is a new adventure. I live to give character to a home, an apartment while respecting the outside environment and the original style of architecture ».
