En temps de crise, la naissance d’un nouveau théâtre est une bonne nouvelle ! Jean Léonetti, député-maire d’Antibes, a joué la carte de la culture pour sa ville et la région avec un bâtiment superbe, qui fait écho par son architecture au Fort Carré du bord de mer. Quand l’ambiance est morose, autant se divertir en allant voir un spectacle ! D’une harmonie simple et complexe, deux salles – dont l’une contient plus de mille places attendent le public avec une audacieuse et innovante programmation : théâtre, danse, musique, humour, cirque et même… arts numériques afin de mettre le regard du public au centre de la représentation. Rien ne manque pour séduire et tenter les spectateurs hésitant à franchir la porte de ce nouvel espace imposant. Pour parfaire ce lieu de création, une élégante montée intérieure en colimaçon conduit à des restaurants et des surfaces d’exposition. Le 6 avril, l’inauguration a été faite avec La Traviata de Verdi, interprétée par la talentueuse Sonia Yoncheva. Pour ce printemps, Daniel Benoin, directeur artistique, a sélectionné des spectacles diversifiés en invitant les humoristes François-Xavier Demaison et Max Boublil, les Pink Martini, Philippe Decouflé (célèbre pour sa mise en scène des cérémonies d’ouverture et de clôture des J.O. d’Albertville), Line Renaud dans l’émouvant Harold et Maude, Pierre Richard dans La Maison d’os à l’humour décalé de Roland Dubillard… Et de l’opéra, à nouveau, avec Carmen de Bizet et Don Giovanni de Mozart… Bravo pour ce nouveau théâtre, bel hymne à la culture !

When times are hard, the birth of a new theater is always good news! Jean Léonetti, mayor and MP of Antibes, has decided that his trump card for his city and region was culture by launching a new superb building that echoes, with its architecture to the Carré Fort by the seaside.
When the ambiance is getting glum, the best thing is getting entertained by going to see a show! It has harmonious as well as complex shapes, two showrooms – one of which holds more than one thousand seats – that welcome the public with a daring and innovating programming : theatre, dance, music, humor, circus and even… digital arts so as put the audience’s eyes, that is to say their vision, at the centre of the representation. Nothing is missing to tempt and attract the viewers in this space utterly dedicated to creation; an elegant inside spiral staircase leads to restaurants and exhibit spaces. On April the 6th, the opening took place with Verdi’s Traviata, interpreted by talented Sonia Yoncheva. For this spring, Daniel Benoin, artistic manager, has chosen various types of shows by inviting humorists Max Boublil, also the Pink Martini, Philippe Découflé ( famous for his staging of the opening and closing of the Albertville winter Olympics); Line Renaud in the moving Harold and Maude, Pierre Richard in the « Maison d’Os, with the offbeat humor of play-write Roland Dubillard… And opera, once again, with Bizet’s Carmen and Mozart’s Don Giovanni… Congratulations for this new theatre, a beautiful hymn to culture !
